German internet TV#32: Ich bin ein Texan?

I believe the German word for awesome is "großartig."

We woke up this morning to find that the unassuming town of Plano, Texas had racked up over 75,000 votes. Surprisingly, they were legit.

Here's why.

(not from the beginning, but enough ;) )
"Take a moment, the chance to play god we will take.Yeah in the moment the best is maybe FortCollins in Colorado, but favorites are there to take'em down(for better translation go to Google Language Tools and type in " Favoriten sind da um gestürzt zu werden")Now, where could we send them....ah, Plano/Texas. So go on, click, click and click again! The voting, not the advertisment . ;)And tell it to your friends! And than click again!Plano/Texas ...thats for two young New Yorker Inhabitants sure rightly beautifull to relax. :D "

Soryy for faults, just a German pupil within his 6 year of English o.O Hope you could understand this ! And now I'm going to vote for Plano/Texas *devlish looking* ^^ :D

You called your Blog 'Ich bin ein Texan'
That's false, if you wanna say : I'am a Texan?
you must say:
Bin ich ein Texaner?
if ayou wanna say:
I'am a Texan!
you must say:
Ich bin ein Texaner!

And you linked only to the Quicktime Vid from Ehrensenf but theres also an WMA or and 3gp VErsion ;)

I would like to know how you guys (Danny and Nina) found out about Ehrensenf... I mean, that you're able to track down all the German votes is one thing, but how did you know that this is because of Ehrensenf?

By the way: Have a nice time in Plano... :o)

At 10/26/2006 03:12:00 PM, Blogger Lennart wrote...

That's because there's some conspiracy thing going on. I bet "Danny&Nina" payed Ehrensenf. By the way, do you know what Ehrensenf means?
It's an anagramm of Fernsehen, which in turn means television.
The literal interpretation would be honorary mustard.

hello there danny&nina!
i would really be interested in how you chose the towns for your poll. did you pick them randomly (putting down your finger on the map with your eyes closed or s.th. like that) or did you actually give it some consideration?
i really hope for you that there is something nice about Plano, as i am quite convinced the thing won't stop at 126.000 votes... ;)

I'm biased against all Dallas suburbs, because I am a snotty New Yorker whose parents live in another part of Dallas. I'd like to cast my vote AGAINST Plano. :)

If you moved there, at least you could still see indie movies at an Angelika theater!

Nina's art is awesome, and her website really worth the visit. And btw: Ehrensenf is one of the most appreciated online e-news show in Germany, and has a huge and enthusiastic following... If not for them, I wouldn't have the slightest idea what's going on in the world ;) Sebastian

Anyhow: Nice idea to let internet users choose your next home town.
And of course: Good luck in Plano :-)

Most of the Ehrensenf-Watchers are in love with Katrin. Therefore they will do whatever she said.

If she said: "Jump!" they will jump out of the windows.

If she said: "Vote for Plano, Texas!", of course they will send you to Plano in the State of Texas. o_0

At the actual Ehrensenf, Katrin wish you all the best in Texas, you'll have to buy Stetsons. And don't be worry: Plano is not a a really small town, isn't it? ;-)

Jeeez...
It's really a bit embarrassing, all zee German posts trying to confirm zee old "Hans Kraut" image a la 'So... wee finally meet at last Mr Saenger... or should I say... VON Saenger? Komm schnell Peter, Alarm! '
Anyway, I am quite sure 95% of the people in Plano won't even know there's a world beyond the Texan state border, except maybe Mexico, cause they'll build a fence there. And their English is different, but not better.
Personally, I'd hate to life in Texas, but I guess anyplace in northern Idaho might be just as dull and rednecked.
Plus, our beloved Fuehrer, his mightieness, blessed by our holy mother of invention, balmed by the sacred chimp of the sanctuary of the google, his elaborate highness George W Eggnoggbrain Beebee has been divinely created through the materialisation of cosmic energy (hopefully without the unspeakable act of sexual intercourse between Barabara and George sen.)
What a great state to life in! More deathpenalties you'd only get in China!

Anyway, what was i goin to say?
Ah...
I truly love you all!

Judging from the view in Google Earth, Plano can't be much worse than any other average US suburbia. I bet when you look out the window, it could as well be Los Angeles, or Newark, or...whatever. Except for the people's accent and cowboy hats, of course.
Viel Spass beim Umzug!

I voted several times for Sandy in the lovely state of Utah.

Because i wont risk a bad conscience by sending you to the texan desertlike heat.

But what is one vote against all the german nerds around me.

So have fun in Texas an just remember: i wasnt my fault.

Hey, Felix, keine Späße über Dubbelju! Trotz der katastrophalen Umfrageergebnisse stehen die Amis im Zweifel eher zu Dubbelju als zu Felix! o_O

Pardon, I have to say a little words of admontion to Felix. ;-)

Hmm, Plano... it doesn't seem do be smaller than my hometown. I came from Seligenstadt, Hessen, Germany. (50° 2'21.21"N 8°57'36.09"E).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seligenstadt
Round about 10.000 peoples live here. It's the smallest town I ever lived in. But... it's o.k., I'm still living.

Let's have a look to Google Earth.

Yes, you can see only a plain field next to a small farm. The photograph must be older than six years. "The google" is still sleeping. :-(
The fields in the north of the street now are fully cropped. You can't believe it, our houses are made of stone. Yes! Stones not wood! ;-)

If you'll ever have a trip to old europe or the old fashioned, peace loveing Germany, please feel free to visit us! ;-)

Anyway, I'm pretty sure, you'll need a powerful ac, down in the south, in your home made of wood. :-)

You'll also need a new slang. Texas - it's a little bit like Bavaria in Germany (Germany? Said I?) :-) I guess you will learn a lot of new words for colored people.

Sorry for this posting. I guess I had too much Äppler (aeppler, aeppelwoi, apfelwein http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apfelwein).
I'm afraid to babble a little bit, aren't I? %-)

Kind Regards
Michael

P.S.: cool, the passphrase I have to type in to confirm my posting calls "xahfgpob". This means in german: "lick my ass" - I love your blog!

Hallo

Wow! I'd never have expected so many votes in those 30 hours or so since yesterday's episode of 'The Ehrensenf' was released... seems like you're the victims of Katrin's humour and the ehrensenf-community.
You know it's quite easy to realize a million votes if you know how. Let's just say Firefox makes a lot of things easier. Much easier.
Or should I say 'mucho más fácil' to prepare you a little?

Oh well, I hope you will enjoy Texas if you really move there. Wouldn't be so nice if it's gonna be a flop and we'd all have to have a bad conscience.
At least your gonna get some neighbours you can laugh (Am I a little prejudist about Texas?) and tell your friends back in NYC about.

Have a nice day
Eduard

P.S.
Watch the end of todays episode of 'The Ehrensenf' and you better start packing already ;-)

Well, I'm quite sure that Danny and Nina were aware something like this could happen. As soon as one community finds out about such a voting this is what happens.
I personally didn't know that Ehrensenf is popular enough to cast thousands and thousands of votes, but obviously it is.
I'm sure Danny and Nina only picked towns they could imagine to live in - so Plano it is.
Good luck and let us know about your life there ;)

Don't think it's just a little constitutional right to be armed over there ... IT'S A DUTY! Be ready to protect your freedom ... there is no way out of this anymore. Be armed!
